Honestly, the sheer nostalgia factor will convince enough gamers to buy into these remasters/remakes that Nintendo doesn’t need to do too much, and I think the company knows that. Moreover, Metroid Prime 2 and 3 don’t look too outdated for their time, especially considering they’re Nintendo games. In fact, rumors from last year suggested that a reworked Metroid Prime had finished development over summer. That would perfectly explain how the original is rumored to feature revamped controls better suited for today. My educated guess leads me to believe that Metroid Prime 1 is being remade while the two sequels are being remastered. We’ll still see the updated controls make their way on to the sequels, but expect a much less impressive visual flourish, compared to Metroid Prime 1.
#METROID PRIME 4 2022 UPGRADE#
So no word on their release windows yet, but expect them to debut in 2023, possibly as part of a two-game bundle.ĭespite significant efforts going into this project, Jeff Grubb mentioned both of those games won’t receive nearly as much of a upgrade as the original Metroid Prime (remaster/remake) coming this Holiday. Moreover, remasters/remakes of Metroid Prime 2 and 3 are also in the works, as Jeff Grubb mentioned that they’re also “ pretty much done“. Knowing Nintendo, they’d want to milk the titles as much as possible and release them some time later. It will reportedly feature dual-joystick controls and motion-controlled gyro movement, both of which weren’t present on the original GameCube release. It’s supposed to be a major overhaul of the original title, modernized for the Nintendo Switch. Metroid is coming backĪccording to Jeff Grubb, Metroid Prime 1 remaster/remake is Nintendo’s big Holiday game for this season. So, that is… that’s happening, and they need to tell us when that release date is. Almost certainly to line up with the 20th anniversary in November. Now I’ve been told their plans are to release that game this holiday. They have things… happening with that game. Jeff Grub, during today’s Monday Mess Mornings show, revealed that he’s quite confident about Metroid making a big comeback very soon.Ī Metroid Prime remake or remaster was something I’ve heard was in the works. Today, we add to that in the from of a fresh rumor coming from one of the industry’s most reliable names. However, before we ever see Metroid 4 materialize, rumors of potential remakes of the original games coming out have been floating around town for long. The best of Metroid is behind us and Nintendo hopes to capture the magic of the first few Metroid games with the upcoming Metroid 4. That being said, Metroid is not really in its glory days anymore. Not only that but Samus’ identity being portrayed as a girl in the games means she has always been a covert feminist icon. The fact that it’s a masked character means that it could be anyone under that power armor. There is so much great about Samus, the protagonist of the series. It stands proudly among the company’s most infamous characters. Assuming that this project is real, Nintendo will likely end up confirming its existence at some point in the coming months.Metroid is arguably Nintendo‘s biggest franchise after Mario and Zelda.
#METROID PRIME 4 2022 SERIES#
Even though this game hasn’t officially been confirmed by Nintendo just yet, the release is set to coincide with the Prime series celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. In recent months, a number of new reports have emerged stating that Nintendo is planning to release a remaster of the original Metroid Prime for Nintendo Switch at some point in the coming year. While this is surely disappointing news for a number of Metroid fans, in the interim, it doesn’t sound like 2022 will be devoid of new games associated with Metroid Prime entirely. More so, it also seems to tell us that a launch in 2022 is likely out of the question. As such, this verifies that Nintendo basically still doesn’t know when the game is going to end up releasing. While many of these other games such as Bayonetta 3, Splatoon 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 all had 2022 launch windows attached to them, Metroid Prime 4 was merely designated as “TBA”.
#METROID PRIME 4 2022 UPDATE#
And while this update on the game last transpired nearly three years ago at this point, it doesn’t look like Nintendo is any closer to knowing when the title will see the light of day.ĭivulged in Nintendo’s latest financial document going over earnings from the company’s second quarter of its fiscal year, Metroid Prime 4 was mentioned in the presentation alongside a number of other upcoming titles. After first announcing the game all the way back at E3 2017, Nintendo later revealed in early 2019 that it would essentially be starting the project over from scratch with developer Retro Studios at the helm. The release date of Metroid Prime 4 continues to remain unknown to those at Nintendo.
